Gaze upon him and weep; my first fursuit head. I made Nargacuga in 2020, during... ahem. Strange times.
He's a wonky build, for sure; I didn't really look up fursuit tutorials making him, and I was working off of leftover materials on this costume. The Covid-19 Pandemic Lockdowns meant you couldn't go to the store to buy fabric and couldn't order materials online because worldwide shipping was frozen or severely slowed down in places. I'll give this fursuit that; for being made out of crafting leftovers... He could have been much, much worse.
Nargacuga's base is made out of scrap upholstery foam from a failed re-upholstery project; his fur is low quality shag (curse you, local store!) shaved by hand with scissors. His beak and mouth is fleece, his markings minky, and his eyes are leftover EVA foam and plasti-dip. his eyemesh is painted leftover door screen mesh.
His lining sucked. The leftover neoprene I had was a bit terrible and it quite literally ripped on the inside over time in storage. I had to re-line his neck with leftover cotton, at some point. His vision was okay, but his tiny little mouth let almost no air in.
I consider the experience I got making him invaluable, but since I never really wore him in the end (thanks pandemic, but honestly I was also a bit ashamed of having made his ugly mug...), he was kind of in a limbo where he was my first fursuit, but I tend to give that title to Wurmple since that one was made to actually be worn to an event, with good quality materials and the intent to see it done. I was pretty proud of the mouth and beak, though.
You may have noticed I speak of him in the past tense. He had a fatal encounter with a melty plastic bag in storage. Goodnight, sweet prince.
