Zeke is my first "classic" fursuit project! (The Nargacuga head was a valiant attempt, but I didn't look up any tutorials or ressources on fursuit making while constructing it, so no wonder he turned out like... that.) After the non-standard Wurmple and Sonic suits, I wanted to try my hand out at a standard fursuit and making a furry character. Zeke's inspirations are Pico of Newgrounds fame, alien/parasite tropes, and centipedes.
Zeke features UV-reactive minky for his parasitic bits, 2D eyes with waterproof printed eyemesh, a high-motion tail, and lined handpaws with 2 finger escapes (index and middle fingers).
Zeke was a great learning experience for standard fursuit building techniques. All my other fursuit/mascot projects at the time had wildly non-standard elements (especially in the vision and base building areas), so learning to build a basic furry canine (with a couple weird details to put my spin on it, for the parasite bits) was a great opportunity. In fact, the handpaws alone took two attempts to find a good pattern and adjusting the size to fit my hands! I tried Kloofsuit's 5-finger handpaws first, but ended up settling with the 4-finger puffy paw pattern as it was more comfortable for my hands. I used Kloofsuit's canine head base pattern for his, well, base.
I'm torn on Zeke. I didn't exactly vibe with the character I made by the end of it, and his ears irk me to no end. His head is a bit too tight, and it feels like his vision and mouth breathability are a bit more wonky than intended. However, I love the paws so much, the satin stitch pads came out wonderfully and I can't wait to reuse the pattern! His tail, too, while a bit too big to my taste, looks so very cool. So for now, he kinds of stay in my closet until I decide if I want to re-home him.
